Trends & Indicators
📈📉🧐

We used long-term monitoring data and/or citizen science data to determine population trajectories of concerning species and to build topic indicators. Those trends and indicators indicate health of a given ecosystem at local or regional scale.

  • Breeding birds (Lin et al. 2023 Ecological Indicators☺️)

  • Migratory waterbirds (Lin et al. 2023 Global Ecology and Conservation☺️)

  • Birds of YMS National Park (manuscript preparation💦)

  • Population trajectories of Taiwan Macaque (manuscript preparation💦)

  • Birds of different parts of Taiwan (analyzing data🤔)

  • Birds of alpine region of Taiwan (analyzing data🤔)

  • Agricultural LTER (birds, frogs & reptiles; manuscript preparation💦)

  • Frogs of Taiwan (Please give me fund🥹)

  • Indicators for forest vegetation types of Taiwan (Please give me fund🥹)

Wildlife-Habitat Relationships
🌳🐦‍⬛🪺

We are trying to identify survival and breeding resources of a species in a heterogeneous landscape, and determine the associations of wildlife diversity and landscape (composition, configuration & habitat amount).  The issues include fragmentation, mosaic farmlands and forests, and landscape planning.

Citizen science & Open data 🙌

Citizen science is the essential tool for current biodiversity conservation. We launch several citizen science project for Taiwan's biodiversity and share all data with the world on the GBIF.

Conservation with international cooperation 🌏

We cooperate with people from different parts of the world for biodiversity conservation, especially for migratory species along the East Asian - Australasian Flyway. We are the coordinator of Asian Waterbird Census of the Wetland International, and the East Asia Wildlife Health Network. We also provide scientific-based evidences and suggestions to policy makers for designs strategies and actions.

Case studies for individual bird species & others 🦉

Sometimes, sudden events urge us to search and collect evidences from various source types and multilingual materials (usually Chinese, English & Japanese), especially tracking to the documents in 19th century. Further, I conducted studies concerning biogeographical issues & cooperative breeding behaviorur many years ago.
